IMO the purpose of stages is to deliver you the basic tools to install
your own personal flavour of Exherbo. So how many config files do you
have to edit in an alien editor to install you favourite one? bashrc
and options.conf? Is this really such a big nuisance?

Stages should be a minimal set of packages, so there should be one
editor. I don't care if it's emacs or vim but if it turns out emacs is
frigging huge and vi is part of POSIX I'd prefer vim.
